OWA contractors are critical partners as we perform our mandate to safely decommission and remediate orphan wells, facilities and pipelines, as efficiently as possible. We engage Prime Contractors, who have qualified to manage large OWA projects, who then hire subcontractors to complete our projects in the field.
The OWA’s procurement process is competitive, fair and ensures we select contractors who:
- Hold an excellent safety record,
- Are qualified, experienced and perform quality work,
- Have competitive rates, and
- Will responsibly represent the OWA in relationships with landowners and communities.
OWA field work is managed on a seasonal basis. Accordingly, decommissioning and remediation projects are grouped into “work packages” that are assigned to our Prime Contractors at defined times throughout the year.
